I am so fucking bored by the beer discourse of 2015, by Pete Brown at his blog

 ... When I write stuff for the consumer press about beer, I stick to the line - which I believe on good days, when the medication is working - that there's never been a better time to be a beer drinker. More brewers, more styles, more experimentation and inventiveness ...

Seems the medication isn't working. It's been happening a lot to me lately.

Everything was awesome.

But of course, it wasn't really. Just like in the film.

Success makes people uneasy. Remove the easily identifiable enemy, and people become unsure what they're fighting for, or against.

And so as soon as 2014's Christmas hangover wore off, we turned on each other like a pack of starved, neurotic, Stella-drunk piranhas.

Hell, let’s shake things up a bit.

In the beginning, roughly seven years ago, my aim in having this blog was to write most of the time about beer in general, and occasionally about the beer being brewed by my own company.

I’ve long since reversed the proportion. While reasons for this exist, explaining why seems redundant to me now, because in preparation for 2013, another change seems in order. Hell, let’s shake things up a bit.

Here’s what is being contemplated.

The New Albanian Brewing Company’s website is about to be revamped by Hatch Creative, whose chief (only) designer and bottle washer is John Wurth, who also is the mastermind behind LouisvilleBeer.com.

My goals are (a) to blog about NABC at the NABC web site and to make it the primary source of material about my own business, (b) to blog about beer in general at LouisvilleBeer.com, in addition to my twice-monthly column, and (c) if any time remains, use my current Potable Curmudgeon blog to collect these writings. It is yet to be seen whether I’ll have the time for this.

It is my habit to work at home during the morning, and then proceed to the pub some time around lunch for required on-site activities like ordering beer, stacking beer and drinking beer.

One afternoon a few months ago, I emerged distractedly from my office, walked around the corner of the bar, and found myself “mano y mano” -- beer gut to beer gut – with a giant. Looking to the sky to make eye contact is something I’m seldom required to do, although 6' 4" is of course tiny by today's professional basketball standards (crazily, Golden State's star guard, Baron Davis, is my height, and approximately 15 times quicker). Still, my daily encounters don't usually include bumping into people who are scraping their heads against the drop ceiling.

The legitimate seven-footer in question turned out to be Matt Simons, who became our source for vital information about the amazing Sergio's in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

Sergio's World Beers an unlikely Shelbyville mecca ... but it is.
