Check out the Irish Rover's seasonal house beers, brewed for the pub by NABC.

Robin Garr reviews the Irish Rover, a fixture on Frankfort Avenue in Louisville:

Irish Rover takes us to the Emerald Isle

if you want warm and welcoming Irish style in Louisville, you can’t improve on the Irish Rover, the amiable eatery that has become an indelible part of the Frankfort Avenue landscape since 1993.

Precisely, although it bears noting that for several months now, in addition to the requisite Guinness, the Rover has been pouring its own house brand, Celtic Craic. It is an export-style stout, heavier than Guinness but not approaching "imperial" strength, and is being brewed exclusively for the Rover by NABC.

As the weather gets warmer, the Rover will transition from their house stout to a golden lager, also brewed by NABC, which tentatively is to be called The Parting Glass. Expect an Irish-style red ale (name TBA) to follow suit in autumn, after which Celtic Craic will rejoin the lineup for winter.

We've really enjoyed working with Michael and Jason on these beers, so if you follow Robin's advice and stop by the Rover, see if one of them is on tap.

Bank Street Brewhouse in today's LEO: "'Cuisine a la bière' defines Chef Josh Lehman’s bill of fare."

I'm pleased and humbled. I appreciate Robin's review, but even more so, I thank him for consistently giving New Albany's emerging downtown restaurant scene a fair shake in his writings. We must not forget that before us came the Bistro New Albany, when Louisvillians first began taking note of what we're capable of achieving here.

Most important are big kudos to the entire BSB staff: You guys indeed rock.
Lots to like about Bank Street Brewhouse, by Robin Garr.

I’ve held off reviewing since Kevin Gibson’s first-rate preview (LEO Weekly, March 25, 2009). Now that brewing is in full operation and Lehman’s evening menu is well established, it’s time to turn my own two thumbs up and say, “Kevin was right.” Bank Street Brewery hits a culinary home run for food and beer and other good things.

Elector and a New Orleans medley at Selena's?

In today's LEO Weekly, reviewer Robin Garr visits Selena's, which is located in Louisville's East End on LaGrange Road, roughly equidistant between Lyndon and Anchorage. Owing to the menu's enticing "Cajun and Sicilian" theme, Robin (a noted wine writer, but a beer lover, too) eschewed the wine list and opted for a Dixie Lager.

But I'm thinking a refreshing NABC Elector might have provided more firm accompaniment to the meals described; after all, it's on tap at Selena's, and has been for a month. The establishment was one of NABC's first draft accounts in Louisville following our roll-out.

One thing's for sure: The only way for me to know how well Elector pairs with the food at Selena's is to go and conduct a scientific sampling. I'll try to schedule one very soon.

Selena’s brings comfort to Willow Lake

An old, popular East End country dive bar, closed for years, reopened about a year ago as Selena’s and has been drawing crowds ever since, owing its growing popularity to bountiful food, friendly service and a relaxing atmosphere.
