NABCieged tap takeover at Four Pegs Beer Lounge on Thursday, February 7.

Four Pegs Beer Lounge is located in a space many will remember as the Germantown Cafe (1053 Goss Avenue in Louisville). A little over a year ago, Marty Rosen favorably reviewed Four Pegs in the Courier-Journal.

Four Pegs feels like an old-fashioned saloon crossed with a nifty coffee shop. It’s admirably suited to calm, friendly loitering. But I suspect that once it catches on — which it surely will — the calm will give way to happily milling crowds attracted by a fine beer program and chef Matt Flink’s menu, which has the virtues of being concise, clever and very nicely executed.

One of our periodic NABCieged tap takeovers is being planned for Thursday, February 7 at Four Pegs. The provisional draft list is subject to alteration, but here's the way it looks at present.

NABCieged at The Sinking Ship: Kegs and bottles on Wednesday night.

I have it on reliable authority that the "Brewer's Choice" keg mentioned on the poster will be Mt. Lee (the rare, and in fact never previously glimpsed Ungespundet version).

There'll also be bottles on hand (Hoosier Daddy, Hoptimus, ThunderFoot and Tunnel Vision), with which I'll be devising a sampling and periodically edifying comments from thin air for the benefit of Girls Pint Out (whom I'll be schmoozing) or anyone else who cares to participate. I'll know the price when you do, 'cuz I haven't gotten that far.

It's a split squad for NABC: Me and Richard at Sinking Ship, and David and Josh at Tomlinson Tap Room for the Flat12/NABC collaboration.

An assemblage of NABCs: It’s N.A.B.C.ieged III, beginning January 25.

The New Albanian Brewing Company has long embraced the metaphorical properties of innovation and inundation, and will continue these proud incantations on Tuesday, January 25, with the third incarnation of N.A.B.C.ieged.

This draft showcase at the Pizzeria & Public House (3312 Plaza Drive, New Albany) is all about us -- our NABC beers, as brewed at both our New Albany locations by brewers Jesse Williams & Jared Williamson, and David Pierce (Director of Brewing Operations).

Our brewers and their beers are the future of our business (and aesthetic) enterprise, and in 2011, the entire beer program at our traditional Pizzeria & Public House location is set to undergo an exciting metamorphosis as we reduce our carbon footprint, transition away from reliance on imports, and embrace an even greater advocacy of stylistic education, as reflected by the continuing gains of America’s craft beer revolution.

Including our own NABC revolution, hence: N.A.B.C.ieged III: Even More Than Before.

The idea is to have as many as possible of our own NABC beers on tap at one time at the Pizzeria & Pub (pour sizes and pricing to be determined). The event will last as long as the kegs do, and then we’ll begin preparations for Gravity Head, our annual paean to craft brewing’s outer extremities.

As during the inaugural N.A.B.C.ieged one year ago (a second edition was later held at Louisville Beer Store), we're showcasing these NABC drafts at the Pizzeria & Public House rather than Bank Street Brewhouse, for the simple reason that we have more available spouts for pouring. Last year’s record is 24. In 2011, we hope to beat it.

Given the amount of work required to swap all these kegs of beer and keep them pouring, say a silent prayer for brewer Jared Williamson, and beer managers Ben Minton and Eric Gray, who'll be doing the heavy lifting, literally.

Weekend potpourri: NABCieged, beer education, Bonfire & Chorizo, Pungent & Funky, and pairing cheese with beer.

NABCieged is underway at the Pizzeria & Public House, with a surprise tapping last night of Thunderfoot perhaps serving as the major highlight of the evening. Thanks to Jared Williamson for burrowing into #3 for the Foot, and managing to have 24 NABC beers pouring all at once.

At my other blog, there's a timely update of "Here's to Beer," two non-credit courses from Indiana University Southeast, including registration information.

My weekend Bank Street Brewhouse recomendation: Bonfire of the Valkyries, NABC's Rauch/Schwarzbier (smoked/black), with Chef Josh's Chorizo Hash.

On the topic of food, tonight is the annual FOSSILS Pungent & Funky Appetizer Competition, held in the Prost wing of the Public Hosue at 3312 Plaza Drive in New Albany. Want to know something else? FOSSILS turns 20 this coming September. Where have all the years and liver cells gone?

Finally, a tip for Monday night: Will's and Roger's excellent beer and cheese pairing adventure at Campbell's Gourmet Cottage, Monday, January 11.
