It’s almost time for RiverRoots, the annual music and folk arts festival on the banks of the Ohio in historic Madison, Indiana.

It takes place on Friday and Saturday nights, May 17 and 18, and for the eighth year running (actually, since the fest’s inception), NABC will be on hand to share beer vending duties with craft-brewing Hoosier friends: Upland Brewing Company (Bloomington IN), who’ve been there with us from the beginning; Great Crescent Brewing from Aurora; Indianapolis stalwart Sun King; and (or so I hear) Power House out of Columbus.

With RiverRoots drawing near, here's the NABC beer list for the fest.

There'll be another stellar musical lineup for your listening pleasure when the 5th edition of NABC's Fringe Fest convenes at Bank Street Brewhouse during that other festival's "booth days."

There's no cover, but we'll be checking IDs at the gate and issuing bracelets for those wishing to imbibe.

Fringe Fest 2012: A sneak peek at Chef Matt's special food menu.

NABC will be pouring this weekend at the Horseshoe Casino, Live @ Five and Rock the Rocks.

It started in early May, and by most calculations, the event season should be winding down, but it doesn't feel like it.

On Friday night (September 28), there's an opportunity to pair local beer and local music at the Horseshoe Casino. It's a fine and progressive idea, and I'll be on hand Friday night to take in the scene. The four NABC beers on tap will be: Black & Blue Grass, Community Dark, Hoosier Daddy and Tafel Bier.

Also on Friday night:

Live@5's last show of the season starts on Friday at 5:00 p.m. with the band Wax Factory. The venue is the 400 block of Bank Street. NABC's Rosa L. Stumblebus will be on hand to dispense soul-enriching craft beer.

And then on Saturday, the 29th, the scene shifts to Clarksville:

Klezmerfest tonight on the Bank Street Brewhouse patio.

Tonight is the long-awaited KLEZMERFEST, which I hope will become a permanent feature of Fringe Fest in the years to come. The musicians will be playing on the north patio, and the big tent goes up tomorrow. If you're not familiar with this music, it's vastly entertaining and goes well with beer (what doesn't?) Our old friend Misha Feigin opens at six, followed by Klezmer at eight.

Ohio River Valley Folk Festival in Madison this weekend, May 16 & 17, and NABC will be there.

The coming weekend (Friday & Saturday, May 16 & 17) is the 3rd Annual Ohio River Valley Folk Festival, held along the Ohio River in Madison, Indiana. NABC poured beer in 2006 and 2007, and will be doing so again along with friends from Upland Brewing Company (Bloomington).

This year, with Jesse and Jared off in Washington D.C. to represent NABC at the prestigious SAVOR beer and food pairing, it looks like John Campbell and the Publican doing the pouring both days. If readers are interested in helping and have a valid Indiana server permit, let me know, ASAP.

Last year I wrote about the folk festival’s conceptual basis in my Louisville Eccentric Observer (LEO) column, Mug Shots - Folk Fest celebrates handcrafted brews, and included within my account was this explanation from the festival’s organizers:

In keeping with the Ohio River Valley’s artisan tradition, we proudly offer handcrafted beer and wine from the people who make it. Like the folks who select their wood for a fine musical instrument, these small-production, high-quality vintners and brewers are engaged in the entire process, from the selection of the grain and fruit, to pouring your glass!

As of Monday morning, weekend temperatures are expected to be in the 60s, with clouds but no rain. I’m hoping to see many readers at the festival, so stop by the beer tent and say hello.

Jared Williamson to perform Saturday evening, October 6 at Connor's Place.

NABC's hard working associate brewer, Jared Williamson, will be doing a solo gig at Connor's Place tomorrow night (Saturday, October 6; 8:00 p.m.)

His day job is brewing, but he's been playing music for longer than he's been making beer.

Jared's performance will take place in the lovely confines of the pub's outdoor patio. There usually are two NABC beers on tap at Connor's Place, as well as another three import or craft beers.

I'll be at the homestead all day for our annual NA Confidential Harvest Homecoming Parade party, to which readers are invited, stop by for a beer before heading down to Connor's Place to catch Jared's music.
