Flat12 provides a status update on its Jeffersonville brewery.

Back in April, I sneaked through an open door and snapped the above photo of the interior of Flat12's prospective Jeffersonville location. For those of you asking about Flat12's progress in opening for business in this spot, the Indianapolis brewery has posted an update:

You should begin to see the visible changes beginning to take place that will transform the building into a taproom and brewery.

More on Flat12's project on Jeffersonville.

We took a brief glance at Flat12 Bierwerks' Jeffersonville plans yesterday at NA Confidential. Here's a closer look, with more pertinent information ... as in, brewing will be done on site.

Indianapolis brewer plans taproom on Jeffersonville riverfront; Indy-based brewery to offer new beer selections, by Elizabeth Beilman (News and Tribune)

JEFFERSONVILLE — A new business will be on tap later this year to join a handful of others opening near the Big Four pedestrian bridge.

Flat 12 Bierwerks, a craft brewery based in Indianapolis, announced its plans to open a taproom in downtown Jeffersonville at 130 W. Riverside Drive. The business will be located in the warehouse connected to The Olive Leaf, which also is opening soon, according to Olive Leaf owner Jimmy Shraby.

... The new taproom is the brewery’s first satellite location and will have all the brews available in Indianapolis on tap, in addition to beers brewed on site that will be unique to Jeffersonville ...

... Roger Baylor, co-owner of The New Albanian Brewing Co. in New Albany, said he is looking forward to sharing the area with another brewery.

“We’ve been tight with the Flat 12 guys since they were founded in 2010,” he said. “They’re a lot of fun, so it sounds to me like the whole thing is going to be a lot of fun.”

Baylor said Southern Indiana is ripe for the craft beer scene because of its proximity to Louisville, which just started receiving Flat 12 distributions at its restaurants in the last week.

“This is an Indiana brewery seeing the value of the metro market,” he said. “This is an indication of something I’ve been saying for a long time.”

BoomBozz coming to Veterans Parkway (Jeffersonville side).

I'll never be a "concept creator."

Everything I do in business is for the long haul, whether successful or not.

But Tony Palombino simply does great work, and the BoomBozz on Eastern Parkway was an instant classic the day it opened. The pizza is wonderful, and thanks largely to the daily creativity of wordpress.com/2013/06/08/chilling-with-michael-beckmann-at-boombozz-taphouse/">Michael Beckmann, the beer selection is ever varied while remaining anchored to local and regional breweries.

I've no doubt the BoomBozz on Veterans Parkway will not only transcend the depressing chain-think prevalent in the vicinity, but be a craft beer destination in its own right. That's good by me.

Boombozz Pizza and Taphouse opening new location in Jeffersonville in August, by Steve Coomes (Insider Louisville)

Mid-August is the projected opening of the newest Boombozz Pizza & Taphouse, a 6,000-square-foot, 195-seater with a large bar and patio area located in the Jeffersonville Town Center on Veterans Parkway.

Concept creator and franchisor Tony Palombino said he and franchisee Rich Cleaves negotiated almost a year to get the rights to lease the building, which formerly housed a Beef O’ Brady’s restaurant.

Red Yeti Brewing Company. Coming to Jeffersonville?

It's always amazing what you can find on the Internetz.

My tip about Red Yeti Brewing Company came from a former beer class student, who remarked that he had been talking to the property owner. I can't place the building, although I was told that it is located at Spring and Chestnut in Jeffersonville.

From Untappd, we learn only that Paul R. is a homebrewer going pro, while much of the information at the official web site has to do with bureaucratic wranglings pertaining to the site build-out.

Hmm. HopIPAtimus. Seems there's a beer somewhere with a name almost the same as that ... surely just a coincidence.

Calendar check: "Barbecue, Blues and Brew" in Jeffersonville on June 17 and 18, 2011.

The newly dubbed event takes place on Friday/Saturday, June 17 & 18. I'm working with BBC and World Class Beverages; with luck, there'll be a way to get other Southern Indiana breweries involved.

Beer tasting will be added to Jeffersonville’s barbecue festival this summer, by David A. Mann (News and Tribune)

The city of Jeffersonville just released its schedule for RiverStage — the floating Ohio River venue off Riverside Drive — and 2011’s Smokin’ on the River event is being dubbed a “Barbecue, Blues and Brew Festival.”

The new title is being used as this year’s event will feature a local beer tasting tent, confirmed Sara Schutz, assistant superintendent of special events and RiverStage for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Six local breweries — including New Albanian Brewing Co. and Bluegrass Brewing Co. — are expected to offer two brews each for the tent. Part of the fun will be pairing different beers with the varying takes on barbecue at the event, Schutz said.

Draft Elector now at Cozza in Jeffersonville.

NABC's Elector is on tap at Cozza, a restaurant at 214 W. Court Avenue in Jeffersonville that offers Italian fusion cuisine. Learn more at Cozza's Facebook page, and know that our old friend Clint is managing the restaurant.

David Mann of the Evening News gives some background in this article from earlier in the year: ITALIAN FLAVOR: Cozza open for lunch in former Parella’s building, with local focus. Marty Rosen also gave Cozza a review in April.

Wine's fine, but a Cozza beer dinner, anyone?

NABC, Buckhead, craft beer and Thunder Over Louisville, April 12.

NABC will be doing a split squad for Saturday, April 12, with Jesse, Jared, John and Roger (the token "non-J") in St. Louis for Schlafly's annual repeal-of-prohibition party, and Tony running the brewery crew at Buckhead Mountain Grill on the waterfront in Jeffersonville for its 2008 Thunder Craft Beer Extravaganza.

I refer, of course, to the Louisville area phenomenon known as Thunder over Louisville, a fireworks blow-out that heralds the arrival of Derby Festival, which owing to the weirdness of the calendar provides three weeks of partying this year before the horse race is actually run.

Here’s the pitch, and given what things cost during Thunder, it isn't a bad one at all.

Buckhead Mountain Grill's 2008 Thunder Craft Beer Extravaganza is a VIP Microbrew Tent featuring breweries such as NABC, Brugge Brasserie, Wabash Valley, Oaken Barrel, Barley Island, Three Floyds, Cumberland Brews, BBC, Browning’s and Upland.

Tickets are $75 and you'll receive $10 worth of tickets toward beer (cash after that for full pours, though I think samples are possible), the chance to meet people from the breweries, an all-day food buffet, plus prime real estate and river access for viewing the air show and fireworks. Must be 21 years of age, reservations and identification required. Families are welcome, and non-alcoholic drinks are included.

Go straight to the source for information and reservations: Kelly Leonardo of Buckhead Mountain Grill at 502-899-3030 Ext. 222.
