Cheers and jeers at NABC's Weekend Compendium.

Tonight, I'll be across the street pouring samples for the Carnegie Center's annual fundraiser.

A Taste for Art & History coming on Friday, September 7.

Tomorrow (Saturday, September 8) is Music at the Mount, which takes place in support of the Mary Anderson Center at Mt. St. Francis. The Mount is located off US Route 150, a ten-minute drive from New Albany. The Rashers will be performing Irish music from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and in addition to wine and refreshments, there'll be a keg of NABC's Tafel Bier on hand.

Also on Saturday, the Celtic Carpetbaggers will be doing the shuck and jive on the riverfront in Jeffersonville. Has Birdseye put in a bid for next year's show? Read exactly why this annoys me so much:

REWIND: Drochubh, drochéan ... and the Kentuckiana Celtic Foundation.

Sunday brings a first-time fundraiser for CASA, also in Jeffersonville at Kye's.

Read about the BBQ fundraiser for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate Association), coming this Sunday.

The futile experience of trying to convince charcoal moguls that craft beer belongs with barbecue prompted this column:

ON THE AVENUES: Craft beer, BBQ and you.

Ironically, there WILL be craft beer with barbecue at yet another fundraiser on Saturday night, September 8: Green Hill Therapy Hoe Down on the Hill. For complete details, go here, and join me in praising those, from Carnegie to the Mount and Green Hill, who actually get it.

Haggis Laddie is back -- even if its primary reason for being is not.

In late January, I learned that the 2012 Celts on the River concert would be held not in New Albany, a city that had given the concert's organizers metaphorical refuge, a physical riverfront home and extensive help in nurturing the fledgling event for three years running, but in downtown Jeffersonville.

Evidently the concert was poached by Jeffersonville officials after the Celts committee organizer saw no compelling reason to inform New Albany that a bidding war was underway, seeing as to do so would have allowed for a matching counter-offer.

But worry not, New Albany's loss will be Jeffersonville's, too, once the Celtic carpetbaggers flee to Otisco, New Amsterdam or Birdseye at some point in the future, given that there seems to be no sentiment for them to be hosted anywhere in Louisville, from whence most of them hail. Therein lies an interesting story from the archives, but not just yet.

In the absence of regular communications between the organizers and NABC, which in retrospect was a predictable indicator of prospective divorce, we'd already placed Haggis Laddie Celtic Red on the production schedule to be ready for pouring at the concert in June. That's because we've been brewing it for the main purpose of being the event's "official" beer.

Yes, we might have made an adjustment in the schedule once we learned that the carpetbagging committee had flown the coop, but I wanted to ensure that all of it would be gone BEFORE the new concert date of September 8 ... all of which is to say, NABC Haggis Laddie Celtic Red now is on tap at the Pizzeria & Public House, and kegs are ready for tapping at Bank Street Brewhouse. Enjoy them, because we're not brewing any more batches this year.

Reminder: Celts on the River, tomorrow (Sat., June 18).

Tomorrow is the third annual Celts on the River concert at New Albany's Riverfront Amphitheater from 4 - 10 p.m.

Irish Exit, River City Winery and NABC are vending. It's the release day for NABC's Haggis Laddie Celtic Red as well as Strathpeffer Honey and Heather; also, we'll have Elector, Tafel, Gale's Hard Cider (draft) from Thomas Family Winery, and maybe even a surprise or two.

Come down to the river and see us.

Craft beer events this week: NABC at various riverfront venues, baseball games, and collaboration debuts.

It's another week filled with craft beer events, and improved outdoor temps for enjoying them. This summer is the busiest in NABC's history, and we're doing our best to keep up.

TUESDAY, JUNE 14

In Charlestown:
CPC/NABC Pirate Pale Ale debuts tonight at Charlestown Pizza Company.
It's a collaboration between NABC and CPC, and the result is an APA.

THURSDAY, JUNE 16

In Huntingburg:
Dubois County Bombers vs. Terre Haute Rex
It's summer collegiate-level baseball, and NABC is on tap at League Stadium in Huntingburg as the Bombers begin the Prospect League season. Look for Beak's Best, Community Dark and Tafel Bier at the Craft Beer Bullpen down the third base line. From New Albany, it's about an hour's drive down scenic I-64 to Dubois County.

FRIDAY, JUNE 17

In Jeffersonville (also on Saturday):
Smokin' on the River: BBQ, Blues and Brew Festival
For the third year, on Friday and Saturday, this sanctioned Kansas City BBQ Society event comes to the Jeff waterfront. The location is in front of the RiverStage, where Cluckers Wings will be operating a fest tent with food and craft beer, including NABC and some draft selections from World Class Beverage.

SATURDAY, JUNE 18

In New Albany:
Celts on the River
The hard-working volunteers from the Kentuckiana Celtic Society return to New Albany’s revamped riverfront amphitheater with the third annual “Celts on the River,” a free concert running from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. I wrote about it last week: ON THE AVENUES: From the Liffey to the Ohio. NABC is doing the craft beer (Haggis Laddie, Strathpeffer, Elector, Tafel and Gale's Hard Cider from the Thomas Family Winery), and Irish Exit will be on hand with sprits and other libations.

In Huntingburg:
Dubois County Bombers vs. Springfield Sliders

In Jeffersonville (also on Saturday):
Smokin' on the River: BBQ, Blues and Brew Festival

SUNDAY, JUNE 19

In Huntingburg:
Dubois County Bombers vs. Springfield Sliders

Am I forgetting anything? Let me know.

Here goes.

If you don't know it by now ...

We're only a few hours away from an exciting day, with the NABC World Cup Series of small batch/USA match beers kicking off at 2:00 p.m. and the debut of "USA vs England – Ordinary Bitter" at Bank Street Brewhouse.

Concurrently, NABC's Haggis Laddie Celtic Red goes on tap for the "Celts on the River" concert at the Riverfront Amphitheater.

As far as I'm concerned today, downtown New Albany is the center of the universe. Maybe just my universe, but the analogy holds. I'll be at the Brewhouse for an Ordinary at 2, then near Rosa L. Stumblebus on the waterfront. Come on down, pull up a pew, and have a few.

Busy weekend in downtown New Albany? That's an understatement.

Tonight is the rain date for the New Albany Bicentennial Public Art Project kick-off walk, and the Glass Art Society Annual Conference in Louisville (June 10-12) will have portions spilling across the Ohio River into New Albany. Karen Gillenwater has compiled culture, music, shopping, food and drink updates at this "big damn guide" to downtown New Albany this weekend.

The NABC World Cup Series of small batch/USA match ales commences Saturday, June 12, with the debut of "USA vs England – Ordinary Bitter" at Bank Street Brewhouse, and our Haggis Laddie Celtic Red will be tapped for the "Celts on the River" concert on the same day. For a few more Celts on the River factoids, read these highlights from the organizers. There's also my Tribune column, called "Celts on the Ohio River, too," which surveys a long-ago pub session in Ireland.
