Here's the menu for tomorrow's Indiana Craft Beer Dinner at MilkWood.

Here's the menu for tomorrow's Indiana Craft Beer Dinner at MilkWood. I'll be chatting a bit about the Indiana craft brewing scene between nibbles of what looks like a mouth-watering menu. So much for the diet I never got around to starting.

Tricentennially yours, a renegade collector's edition bottle.

On Friday at both NABC locations, 300-hand numbered 22-0z bomber bottles of our Tricentennial "Post-Colonial" Ale will be available for purchase at $8 each (plus sales tax).

Bank Street Brewhouse and NABC Pizzeria & Public House will split the bulk of the bottles, with a small quantity also allocated for Keg Liquors. This will be the ONLY time Tricentennial Ale is bottled, and once the 300 bottles are gone, they are gone for good.

Also, both locations will have Tricentennial Ale on tap. There'll be a final wave of Tricentennial draft releases around the time of Harvest Homecoming in early October.

Why Tricentennial and not Bicentennial? Go here for the story.

Starting today: Extended Sunday hours at Bank Street Brewhouse.

Beginning today (Sunday, July 21), we’re extending Sunday opening hours at Bank Street Brewhouse until 9:00 p.m. The kitchen will close at 8:30 p.m.

The revamped Sunday schedule looks like this:

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday Brewhouse Brunch menu and Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar

2:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., regular food menu

9:00 p.m., closing

All day long, growlers and bombers of NABC beer are available to go, because on Sundays in Indiana, the only carry-out beer comes to you from Hoosier small breweries. For carry-out wine on Sundays, there's the River City Winery just up the street.

Perhaps two-way street, sooner rather than later?

At NPR: "Guess Who's Fighting To Keep Indiana Dry On Sundays?"

"Indiana is the only one where you can't buy packaged beer, wine and liquor on Sundays."

Wrong.

In fact, even reporters based in Indiana invariably miss a key point: You most certainly can get cold beer to go on Sunday in Indiana ... from the state's 65+ small craft breweries. The first day for such sales was July 4, 2010.

Indiana's small wineries have been able to sell their wine to go on Sunday for many years, too.

Guess Who's Fighting To Keep Indiana Dry On Sundays?, by Sara Wittmeyer (NPR)

When you think summer, you might think of cold beer at a barbecue, maybe a bottle of wine with a Sunday picnic. A lot of people take it for granted that they can just go to the store and pick up alcohol.

Not in Indiana.

While many states have laws restricting liquor sales, Indiana is the only one where you can't buy packaged beer, wine and liquor on Sundays, and it's the only state that regulates alcohol sales based on temperature. Only liquor stores can sell cold beer.

Chris Ritter: "Derby City on Tap."

The Paper may be going away soon, but there's an excellent piece on Louisville area beer, written by Chris Ritter, and featured in the current issue.
Derby City on Tap

In 2007, Andrew Dimery was fermenting his first batch of homebrew on a whim, having cashed in his tax return for the most minimal of required gear. Six years later he is the newest head brewer at the Bluegrass Brewing Company in St. Matthews.

“I loved the DIY aspect of it,” said Dimery. “I remember recycling was every Tuesday. And I’d go out to recycling bins and that’s where I’d get my glass bottles – clean them out really well and sanitize them. But I kind of felt like Gollum or something like that.”

Tuneless zombie bureaucrats? Tiresome thirst-inducing critters, those pesky facts.

What have I been doing on my summer vacation?

Taking swings at zombie craft beer, Forecastle and the Floyd County Health Department, that's what.

Shift to LouisvilleBeer.com to read all about it.

Tiresome thirst-inducing critters, those pesky facts.

A conscientious craft beer zealot needs to stay informed about world affairs of the sort not commonly discussed at RateBeer. After all, yeast isn’t the only culture that matters, and a multi-disciplinary approach can be educational. For instance, consider the nation of Turkey, which straddles the fault line between Europe and Asia.
